Uniqueness of kitui Central Constituency.

Kitui Central Constituency is one of the 8 constituencies that make up the County of Kitui. The constituency is located at the heart of the County covering an area of 636.2 km2. The constituency is divided into five administrative wards namely: Mulango, Kyangwithya East, Miambani, Kyangwithya West and Kitui Township.

1) The constituency host the county headquarters and various Government’s departments/parastatal e.g. Tanathi water service board, KEFRI.

2) Two gazetted forests in the constituency i.e. kavonge forest and museve forest.

3) Literacy levels in the constituency are slightly higher than other constituencies in the county at 63.2. %

4) The constituency is the most densely populated of the 8 constituencies in Kitui
County with a population density of 220 persons per square km.

5) The constituency has the highest number of bilateral donors, International Non-governmental Organizations (INGOs),Local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in the County that are implementing projects that seek to improve the living standards of the citizens such as

8) The main source of cooking fuel is firewood with over 80 percent of the households in all wards except Township using it. The main source of cooking fuel in Township Ward is charcoal used by about 54 percent of the households

9) The constituency hosts various local FM radio stations, which play important role of information dissemination to the citizens. They include;

• WIKWAKYO FM.

10) Kitui Central constituency is endowed with various natural resources that constitute a basis for its development for example sand.
